Your comment about being a bugger to work on struck a chord.
I had a leaking headgasket on my '96 V6 Ghia and the garage quoted 15 hours! I decided to do it myself, but after one look at the Haynes manual I changed my mind. Nightmare job!
It's a shame as the car was mint. Ended up selling it on Ebay for spares or repair. What a waste!
I wrote to Ford about it, but they weren't interested.
