noticed a properly weird issue today, the speedo while now loosely accurate , it still occasionally goes off on one and struggles at lower speeds?

however i noticed today its effected by the tacho. it moves with the tacho if you rev it. so tonight i had a poke around and the sensor is grounded to the chassis, so i connected that the the gauges sensor ground. and moved the gauge ground to ta separate one. and disconnected the canbus (all the gauges have it linked no idea why there isnt one) absolutely no different. even bypassed the loom to the sensor feed encase it was earthing or getting interference

i can only assume there is some sort of earthing of the tacho feed or ignition to the chassis. im going to just leave for now. and investigate more wen i re wire the engine loom

Parts are starting to show up! the question is when do a start ripping it apart?

Base diy loom and Ford coil pack !

I was an absolute loser today and bagged these very cool Old lance cam covers off a chap I know who's always got old stuff.

Gave them a beating with the wire brush and some parts wash. They need blasting really but they will do for now.

They look way cooler though. Once I tidy up the wiring and hoses. Will really set it off l. Especially once I paint them and polish the logos .

I'm still enjoying it to much to rip apart biglaugh

First time I've actually cleaned it, gave it a quick hit with the DA as well as it's covered in micro scratches and marks. .came up ok, I think I'm going to spend a weekend 1500/2000 sanding it then polish it back up. But those of you that. know what I do for a living know it's quite likely to get a wrap, and I've already picked a colour. But I've got this nagging idea of doing a distressed period livery so it looks like it's just finished an endurance race?

I've decided on a plan. And spent way too much money this weekend biglaugh pretty sure coke and hookers would be cheaper at this point! Although I did get some bargains on the manifold and itbs of face ache. And aleast although very close (fingers crossed) it's not forced my hand like the 205 did!

We're going valve springs, dcoe style itbs. And rev till it rolls over/throws a rod. Then I'll boost it next year when it doesn't make enough power biglaughbiglaugh this NA malarkey is way to complicated and expensive for not a lot of gains biglaugh

I think we're going to need a solution for her hair biglaugh

All jokes aside, I think if I get this looking nice and tidy all the shabby bits up sort the major rattles. With a clean and tidy engine bay that I'm not ashamed to showoff. I think that will do for now. If it makes any where near 130 bhp that would be Mega too.

Lovely work, OP!

I think Furys look great, and especially-so in Oxford Blue, but then - I am enormously biased (details on mine in profile ....)

I've just spent a weekend looking at mine and working out what, and moreover, how and where, to re-commission mine. I put it away the autumn before covid landed - and it has gone nowhere since for a very small handful of life-hassle-related reasons (all resolved) Not good - but I can't bear the idea of getting rid: full re-commission in the New year, I hope...

edit for pic:

Starting to get a parts in. And a plan together! Excuse my hand writing biglaugh . Just getting my head around the requirements for the loom and what I need to root to where. As I want this to be nice and tidy no excess wiring or bodges.

I've got a track day in the 208 at anglsea Saturday the 4th so realistically not going to get much done before. But then depending on the weather I might start pulling bits apart the weekend.

Nice! It's certainly on it's way to being fully sorted, whatever that means!

FWIW, I really like how it looks at the moment in dark blue, with the bare alloy valve covers. It almost has a period vibe about it, which suits the shape / live axle / Fiat twin cam setup.
I don't hate the blue, trouble is the gel coat Finish is a bit battered and it wasnt the best Finish to start with. These also a lot of repairs to do.

I'm either going to wrap it a colour that suits it or a period livery.

Why not both...?

as it will be promo for my buisness, i dont want to do one that has been done before. and im thinking i should use a delta livery as thats where the engines from.

although Aitalia was up there on the list howver its been done and done really well.

so im either thinking esso

or one of my altime favorit liverys! Bastos, and patrick snijers raced an early Goupe A delta in Bastos colours.

the other nice thing is its not to heaby on lancia branding as its not a lanica i dont want to confuse people.

cloud9 that m3 !

Got some good stuff arriving now. The temptation to get stuck in is high! But I know I've not got the time to do much this next few weeks. I guess if it rains all weekend and there's no wind for my other hobbies. I'll not be able to help myself.

I've been super nervous of the itb to steering column clearance as number 3&4 ports are directly inline with the column. I think we will be ok not ideal as I really want to run a px600 filter. But don't think I'll have room. I might still piecut the manifold to kick it up above them.

So I'm pretty confident we're good on getting the itbs in but not much room for rampipes or a filter.

Also got these as well so I'm bloody itching to get started but the 208 needs some love before it gets fully abused in Wales next weekend.

Oops I couldn't help myself! Ended up spending the afternoon in it.

First off the I did the rear wheel studs as they were two short. Still need to do the fronts but there not rush now biglaugh

There is about 10/12mm of engagement but, I'm not a fan of it being just enough.

Started pissing it down, and I had a good stock of beers in the fridge so just starting rolling on the build!

Started pulling the loom out so I could get the manifold off, as I wanted to dry fit the itbs see what I'm dealing with.

Hoses everywhere! Can't wait to loose this lot.

my sidekick came bye to check on progress. That or it was raining biglaugh

Looks good and actually could probably make them work like that. Although I'd like to see if my buddy cam put some angle into the manifold as it will make everything sit nicer. And allow me to run a full filter with rampipes.

Although I think the right rampipes might clear or would with a minor massage. And could just run the gauzes caps.

I need to think about the itbs some more. So switched to the coolant pipe rooting I hated the old set-up over the exhaust manifold it was messy and just plain odd. As you can see this is much better and makes more sense to run it along the chassis rail past the suspension.

So I've ordered a load of bits to make this happen.

I can't believe how much wiring is left in the car. It's essentially lights, gauges and fuel pump left and the still and in believe amount of Snakes behind the dash.

Those valve covers though!!! Absolute win. They make the bay even at this stage

I've ordered a catch can for the pcv system. However I'm not sure how to plumb it back into the itbs? I'm guessing I'll just have to vent it to atmosphere.

I'm so glad that you kept this lump and the ITB are just the icing on the cake. It just looks right. smile I like that it's a bit of a left field choice too.

I meant to ask what suspension it's running? I remember reading that the Fury are actually a nice handling car with performance to match their good looks.
It's got adjustable spax on it. They seem ok, but there is very very little droop. So definitely think there's room for improvement it's quite stiffly sprung as well. But I guess that goes with the territory.

I think it could be a fair bit softer with more droop/sag.

Little bit of progress tonight. Just been abit busy this week and waiting on a few more parts.

Need the rest of the hoses to come but got the radiator hoes in much neater.

Fitted a little catch can

Looks buried but it's easily accessible.

I've started brainstorming the fuel setup. It's abit messy but works. It used to have the regulator on the back of the cam cover. But the new one won't set there and it's abit untidy. So I'm thinking here as then the fuel rail will feed straight onto it. And then the return line can do back to the swirl pot under the column

I'm also going to make a cut out for the tank fees and return in the sill as they just loop in the bay at the moment and are abit vulnerable. Think I'm going to put the filter either into the sill or just further over the chassis. More.

Just need to make sure it's easy to get the sill off encase I need access to the throttle cable. Be a pain if I have to undo fuel lines.

.

I need to get the inlet side cam bucket off to my buddy. But need to spend some time working out the timing marks. And I also need to fit the trigger wheel so I kind of need everything together initially. But hopefully I can do that tomorrow. So I can get him started on those. As then it should be quite a quick process to start putting stuff together. Also need to see if he can kink this manifold just to give some more clearance.

What a great car!

Back to livery, how about Totip, used by The Jolly Club on a variety of Lancia's including Delta's, 037's etc.

I think the stripes along the top of the wings and doors would really accentuate the lines of your Fury (and having looked at your website/instagram, you are definitely the man for the job!)

Totip was on the list to be fair. Definitely not been ruled out. And it is pretty recognizable

head over to the 208 thread for last weekends antics in anglesey pleanty of track content and videos! https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

anyway enough of the baguette, ive gor a few bits done this weekend. im pusing to ge this running befor christmas, maybe just maybe do a trackday over the holidays in it. the 208 has heathing tho biggrin

took me ay longer than i though but got the crank pulley, faced and the triger wheel welded on. qute happy with that as it runs true in the lathe. just need to space the new sensor off the 0.5mm of the wheel.

im glad i took my time as that a pretty critical part and im really happy with how its turned out. looks reasonable neat to. just needs some black paint.

farther inlaws birthday so made some meat swiss rolls for the BBQ as you do biglaughbiglaughbiglaughbeer

Dogo's been very poorly this weekend, so h had to stay up with him last night and kipped on the sofa so i could let him out. i wont share the results but heres a sad looking dogo yesterday afternoon.

so i was alittle bit slow to start today. and alittle fluffy. so i started off easy and got the water pump off the new one is diffrent but will work, but i need some longer m8x 1.0 bolts so that stopped me procrastonating on the valve strings

when i got the cam buckets of last week, o was very supprised to find double valve springs already intalled. however ive no clue if there factory or what they are nothing in the folders about them.

left had is the new piper one, and the taller right hand is what came out the piper ones are noticably harder to compress and the inner spring is much more substantial.

got all 8 fitted my back is killing me now though biglaugh having to bend down to the car and lean over the sill while holding the springs commpress and getting the keepers in. no idea why i didnt just jack the car up biglaughbiglaugh

in other news the head has been ported. its alittle rough but the photos are making it look rougher. its probably a 120/240 grit finnish.

ive dropped the manifold and buckets off with my buddy to modifiy them. so once i ge those back will be cooking. althoth theres plenty of smaller jobs to get on with.
