So I found this on ebay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154587860778

That is the correct part number, and the diagram listed is the realoem diagram from my car. Ebay, however, saying it won't fit. I have ordered it but also messaged the seller.

It will arrive 28th Dec - 8th Jan. It's 2x the price of the one from BMW. BMW have said I can get a full refund if I find another elsewhere. I will obviously not cancel my order until I know full well this one fits.

What a faff.
At least you found one! I think you’ll get hit with import charges.

Careful with them pal; them and LLL for me have been a shower of st & I spent more time faffing re refunds and getting my CC company involved forcing a refund and never saw the parts even though they'd said they'd been sent numerous times

Worst case scenario is it doesn't turn up and I contact American Express. The one time I've had an issue with that sort of thing they were great.

EBay are usually good for quick refunds if items don’t arrive.

Yeah I'm not too worried about that long term. My worry is that it isn't the right part and sorting returns would be a pain, but we shall see. I've still kept the order with BMW anyway just in case.

Indeed, only oddity is ebay say it doesn't fit my car, but yes, part number etc looks spot on.

Ebay seller has confirmed it is the correct part. The solitary BMW top mount arrived today, as did the CarParts4Less Lemforder item. CP4L have agreed a refund, I have asked for the postage to be refunded too, considering their site said it'd fit, so it hardly seems fair that I should pay for their fault.

I haven't had notification the top mount from Lithuania has shipped yet. I hope it goes soon. I'm getting a bit hacked off now. In hindsight I should have just waited until I had everything ready, alas, I didn't think BMW would fall foul of the date stated for the top mount.

I asked the Ebay seller whether they definitely had them in stock, or had to back order.

They replied saying they've noticed it's not in stock and have to back order them. fk it. I've asked to cancel the order and get a refund.

What a nightmare.

A friend of mine is in the USA, his partner is coming over to Heathrow on the 31st December. The top mounts are in stock in the USA. He's going to see if we can sort something out.....I really hope we can do this, but am not too optimistic due to the dates around the festive period.

In the meantime, my headlights are ready, just need to pass final inspection and will be shipped out tomorrow.

I wished I'd have sorned the car, in hindsight. I'm not sure whether it's worth bothering with now?? If the car is ready at some point in January then I'll still need to pay the full month.

I buy a lot of BMW parts and like to think I'm pretty good at sourcing bits but that top mount is a tricky one. The only other part that I had a similar problem with was a TRW front lower control arm. It was basically completely unavailable all over the EU.

My search pattern is usually these sites:
Autodoc (These were pretty terrible to start with but have really improved over this last 2 years)
Hubauer-shop
Schmiedmann
LLLParts
Then I check with Cotswold BMW as a last resort or if I need it ASAP.

I did check around already for that part number and I can't find anything. In the past I've used FCP Euro for parts and they do seem to have your part in stock: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-strut-mount-f...

I ordered a water pump and thermostat from them a couple of years ago and it turned up in 5 days. I also got that TRW control arm from them last year and it was with me in 4 days which is faster than any of those EU based retailers. I wouldn't rely on BMW getting stock in as those restock dates will be estimated without any actual promise. I've been caught out by that before, waiting months for parts that are always "1 week away".

My friend in the states linked to this site. I'll wait to hear back from him as to whether he can do it, if not I'll order it today. Nightmare.

Actually, fk it. I've just ordered it. They say ETA 28th December, although I suspect that will be a bit later due to the bank holidays, but at least it's on order!

The headlights are all done now. Should be with my garage by the end of the week, if not obviously not until after Christmas.
