The more you see the more unfathomable it becomes that BMW didn't do it themselves.

I understand they did build one: they just couldn't make the maths stack up to sell them, so they didn't do a production run, they left that to Alpina.

Not really, whilst we think it's truly wonderful, how many people would have bought one? Would that have made financial sense for BMW? They felt not.

Epic as always Barry, finished item looks absolutely superb cloud9nuts

Glad you managed to reach the deadline, hoping that you either hang on to this one a bit longer so we get to see some further ownership updates, or I get wind of you wanting to get rid of it before it sells like the last one!

Wowzers.

The loom alone, integrating the M5 bits, the options from the donor 30i, and powered tailgate, task and a half already to get it all working nicely!

I’m looking and assuming the rear subframe is aluminium?

And the front is steel?

Funny as aren’t they usually the other way around on more modern BMWs?

Thank you everyone for the kind words!

I am very happy with how this one has turned out.

Last Sunday we sponsored an event for the BMW car club south east region at Denbies vineyyard in Dorking, "BMW's of the 20th century" and had a stand with a selection cars, the M5T taking centre stage. It drew a lot of people over and a lot of positive comments and interest which was nice to hear.

Correct, V8 front subframes are steel, both are aluminium on six cylinder cars.

Hi Barry,

Did this get a full respray or just the bits around the corrosion repair? I'm looking for a bodyshop to complete similar work on my E39 and would be glad of the recommendation if you could please DM/EMail me.

Thanks

Website map for the bodyshop is quite a distance from reality - DUBLIN vs. East Sussex!

Looks like they’ve managed to link Bluebell Business Park instead of Bluebell Business Estate!
