Cheers squire... It'll look mint once fitted. It feels great in the hand.

I may brave it myself between Christmas and New Year and remove the original one and fit the re timed one. One less fiddly job for my pals to do etc biggrin

Forgot one thing! Braided brake lines... rolleyes

Just ordered some plain black HEL ones so they should be with me just after the New Year biggrin

Got my op booked in for 03rd Jan as well (had to go private again as NHS are literally 12-18 months behind); so with 3-4 weeks recovery and no driving for 2 weeks at least, my pals will collect the BMW on 08th and keep it until they've done all the work
Best wishes for 3rd bud.
Thank you Ross. Not looking forward to it buts it's a needs / must now as there's no alternative and no 'it'll sort itself with time' etc...

In and out in the day so shouldn't be too bad... Miffed that I'll miss helping work on the car and then driving it, and not being able to train too. But small sacrifices etc...

Paying for the op will be painful enough I reckon haha biggrin

Been there wink

Just look forward to recovering and driving a rather fresh F31!
Haha exactly... At least my ops before my pals get the car, so I'll be around if they run into any issues, so I'll be able to sort them ASAP (not that they should etc)...

Main thing is I'll be well into recovery for when we go up to The Highlands and that's paramount for me as when we went up earlier on this year we lasted 3 days and had to come home as we'd all caught the dreaded lurgy laughmad

The car is looking spot on with those carbon bits, and once you've done the suspension bits it's going to be like a new car! Does that mean it's time to move it on and find something else to start the process all over? biggrin
Thanks for that biggrin I think the steering wheel will be the finishing touch on the inside wink But I am looking forward to it getting all the suspension refreshed too; should drive superbly then, more so once my pals done his magic with it, and given it a fast road set-up too thumbup

Haha and no; we're keeping this well into 2025 unless something major happens pennies wise; we're paying the mortgage off as much as we're allowed per month and yearly lump sums. So it should be cleared June/August 2025

After that I'll then look at it's replacement, hopefully a G31 540i touring cool

Fitted the freshly re-trimmed steering wheel today thanks to the lads/lasses at Royal Steering Wheels

Full re-trim in alcantara with M stitching & I've fitted the M3/M4 paddles also; they look & feel much better than the OEM ones

Gave the car a thorough clean inside and a contactless wash outside; last one before my op on Wednesday, which will render me useless for a good 2-3 weeks unfortunately

Hopefully the car will stay clean enough for when my pals collect it on 08th for all the work it's having done to it

Yes; there's light at the end of that tunnel haha - just need the HEL brake lines to land this week as they're the last part of the puzzle

Engine cleaned down (full of dust) and hoovered all the gaps under the scuttle (full of leaves) - after seeing what Sam (Court_s) went through, not sure if the F31s suffer the same issues, but did it for peace of mind... All fluids checked as well

Cleaned all the leather too, and now my hands stink of Dr Leather wipes! laugh

Lashing it down again here; so that's me done for a good few weeks

Happy New Year folks thumbup

Cheers Ross

Unfortunately it's been cancelled. Consultant surgeon has had a family emergency, so waiting to see when he can get me in next.

Far from ideal, more so as I've gone private & paid for it. But it is what it is... mad

Whose car will be done first?! laughdriving
Yours has got a good head start pal; I think it'll be down to how well the parts come off mine etc..

But knowing my pals; they'll build up all the suspension and do a corner at a time etc

Well I can't see yours being worse than mine! I gather they had no issues with the front. Rear starting tomorrow though.....
Hoping it's not TBH - when I was under it a month or so ago there were only a few rear bolts that were rusty; that I've got replacements for, so they can be cut off and knocked out anyway etc...

The rest looked super clean thankfully smile

They've made good headway by the looks of it! Be great when it's back. Have you got another date for your op?
Haha... Aaannnnd they're off....

Aye; next Wednesday Ross; should have the car back by the weekend hopefully, so just in time for the weather to get very cold/poss very snowy if it all goes to plan. Better in the BMW with the Goodyear all seasons than the wife's Jazz on normal tyres!

I suspect you'll beat me to it then. Think I'm having a bit more done, especially with that subframe. My issue is that if it isn't done tomorrow it won't be done until next week.
Ah right; yeah my pals will get it done this week and if they've time, they'll do the full alignment and fast road set up (as best as they can) etc

Ideally they don't want a car in over the weekend if they can help it and they know we need it back as well

Bet you're looking forward to it. I'm doubtful about this weekend, but we'll see. You'll have to report back to how it feels!

What parts exactly are you changing, again? I've forgotten!
Absolutely; would rather the wife be out and about in that and for taking me to the hospital/collecting me than the Jazz, more so with the potential weather that's about to land!

Every part of the suspension (all arms, links, track rod ends (mix of Moog/TRW & Lemforder), Bilstein B4S shocks with Eibach pro kit springs, new Sachs top mounts all round and all the necessary rubber bits (spring perches etc, bump stops/gaitors) and gaskets from BMW

Then the stat, water pump, stat housing and top/bottom hoses - all Febi Bilstein and lastly HEL braided brake lines

A lot!

Yeah quite a big list! Will be nice and fresh after that lot!
Aye; it smacked my wallet about a bit too; but it'll be worth it as it's done then and will last my ownership time of the car etc and whoever buys it, when the times comes that I sell it, will see straight away that it's been looked after properly! More so with a project like this and all the pictures etc biggrin

Had a few issues re front drop-links; Autodoc at their finest and sending the wrong ones rolleyes But they've got Moog ones from their local motorfactors so that's good

My pal has said that it's all come off with no issues and it's all in visibly very good condition; shows the cars been looked after before I got it too which is great to know!

Rear nearly completed

HEL braided brake lines and fluid flush/refill to go, as well as the cooling system overhaul and then it's it'll have the tracking/alignment done and as best a fast road set up as they can do
