Finally able to drive; great feeling, bar the car is absolutely filthy and it's forecast to rain now here until 2030 I think rolleyeslaugh

Winter (well, all season) tyres ordered. 235/45/18 Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen3s ordered (non RFTs obviously); will get TPMS sorted too and then drop them all off and the Style 397s I've got with my pal to refurb and then fit the TPMS & tyres

Think I'll stick with BMW silver; but may go for Ferric Grey yet (probably a better colour for over winter etc)

Good to hear bud.

The forecast tomorrow looks utter wk.

I reckon you should get the wheels done one Ferric Grey.
Weather here has been rotten pal. Although grateful as I've so much veg planted in the ground and a greenhouse full of toms etc... So the rain waters needed for all the watering!

But want to get the cars washed too haha

Yup. Thinking Ferric Grey too pal. Good for over winter / hiding the filth etc...

Winter tyres have just landed (well, all seasons)

Gone for 235/45/18 Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen3s to go onto the Style 397s I've got. Will get them to my pal sometime next month to be fully refurbed in ferric grey, new OEM TPMS fitted and the tyres fitted/balanced ready for the colder/wetter months wink

Car into my pals this morning for a geo check & tweak; it was out a lot at the front and toe'ing in 2 on the rear drivers side; so it's all as it should be (and with a straight pointing steering wheel)... So much for BMW getting it done rolleyes

Sorted it's 6monthly oil change when I got home too whilst the oil was nice and hot. Bang on 5l came out (5.2l capacity); fresh 5W30 in with a new Mann filter thumbup

Nextbase rear dashcam fitted this afternoon

Managed to hide the loose cable (the connecting cable is stupidly long) in the headliner and fed it along the tailgate seal and then along the top of the C, B and A pillar, front headliner and connected to the 422GW dashcam upfront

The 3D printed fitting that the rear dashcam fitted to is via eBay and works a treat thumbup

Car washing tomorrow; too knackered today and it's on/off rain

First full detail of the car I've been able to do since before my 1st op on 10th May

The contactless washes I've done have kept it clean enough; but nowt better than a proper wash and re-apply of AGs Polar Seal

Went at the wheels with AGs Magma too; brought them up brilliantly

Wheels blown dry and Gyeon Q2 tyre seal applied

thumbup

Just in time for it to rain laugh

Not a lot to report really...

Cars ticked over 98400 miles; it's hardly moved in the last few weeks but it got a good blast out yesterday whilst doing a few chores and collecting some pallets from my pals garage to use for the wood storage I'm building in the woods at the back of the garden (had 8 huge sycamores felled, so that's the firewood for next winter) biggrin

Parts have started arriving for the New Years suspension refresh; drop links all round in the garage (Moog) & front main thrust arms and tie rod ends and rear trailing arms ordered via Autodoc (Lemforder)

Yet to decide on whether to go Bilstein B14s/B16s or KW Street Comforts - I'm swaying more towards the Bilstein B16s; best of both worlds then

Will drop the 18x8 Style 397s and Goodyear Vector Gen 3 all-season tyres off to my pals later next week to get them refurbed in satin black and shod with the tyres/new OEM BMW TPMS ready to fit for the autumn/winter etc

Good stuff.

The weather is definitely on the turn. We had a biblical downpour first thing but it’s now glorious sun shine and clear skies. Everything is still wetter than an otters pocket though.

I need to think about sorting the winters out on the 330. They need a refurb and one of the tyres is badly cracked so will need replacing.
Aye; it's on and off here Sam... The cars filthy again as my pals powdercoating business is down off some country backroads etc...

It's sunny now, so baking the dirt on nicely madlaugh It'll rain soon enough though...

I've gone for all-seasons for a change; they're 3 Peak marked, so will be perfect for over the colder & wetter months and for our jaunts up to the Highlands etc - I don't need dedicated winters any more I don't think, looking forward to seeing how we get on with the Goodyears thumbup

They'll do the job nicely over autumn & winter

Will get them cleaned and Gtechniq C5'd this weekend and fitted sometime next week probably; once the weekend heatwave is over & done with laugh

I genuinely don't know how you keep up with all your wheel and tyre changing Dan! biggrin

They do look sweet though for sure. thumbup
Haha neither do I biggrin

I'll wait to next week to swap them over I think; whilst it's still dry... That'll give time for the C5 ceramic coating to go off nicely...

I'm out suppin dirty ale tomorrow in Clitheroe; so I might do the ceramic coating on Sunday as long as my eyes are pointing in the same direction laugh

Freshly washed/towel dried this afternoon, with it's newly refurbed winters Gtechniq C5'd and just going off in the sunlight...

I'll probably get them fitted in the next few days whilst it's still dry before it starts to lash it down again midweek onward rolleyes

They look better than I thought they would! Looks good. Nice option for winter tyres!
Wasn't sure myself pal; they're diamond cut from factory but didn't look great. The whole, solid colour suits them better IMO. Plus I like their concave looks too...

Heavy though! c13kg a corner, alloy only! The 405Ms are only 9kg a corner, alloy only...

It'll be interesting to see how it drives with that added weight etc...

The tyres should be good; will get them scrubbed in soon enough biggrin

Out & about a lot last night playing taxi for my folks and aunts/uncles as they'd all gone out for a meal. Covered nearly 100miles too'ing and fro'ing laugh

First thoughts re the Goodyear all seasons as they're softer than the Assym6s, which is obvious. But you can feel that too, it's like the tread blocks have more play in them etc (which they will have)...

The 397s are heavy too; you can feel that through the steering and also under acceleration...

But they're fine otherwise and the car rode smoother IMO as the tyres are that bit softer...

Once you have had decent light wheels, you won't go back..
Yup; they're function over form though currently, so happy to run them. Time of year, better suited tyres etc smile

This is another reason why (I keep telling myself laugh ) I haven't splurged out on a set of Apex ARC-8s or BMW 513Ms that are up for sale currently; as they're the same weight as the 405Ms I've got...

And they didn't cost me a lot either...

So all I'd be doing is changing style...

Could have run the 405Ms as winters, but I like them as summer, love their design...

Those 513M's are spendy too!
Yup; brand new set of 18x9s in OEM Ferric Grey - £1800 delivered. Tyres on top; close to £2.5k...

For 0.1kg weight saving and looks etc... I'll resist laugh

Priorities are the suspension refresh (probably cooling system overhaul too) come the beginning of the New Year and then some bodyshop TLC come early spring 2024

Just need to make my mind up re what suspension to run now I've experienced the B12 Pro kit set up, B14s and B16s... My pals having B4s with Eibach pro kit srings fitted to his F31 320D next week as it's a long haul car; so will see how they run too

Having done similar with my previous Jap import E39 touring; I know how well OEM spec Sport shocks and Eibach pro kit springs run...
