Well, that's what the Oxford Mail states about the Council's Transport Plan:

'The plan also commits the Council to introducing 50mph speed limits on all single-carriageway rural roads'

I rang OCC about this and they assured me that no such commitment has been made - the Plan will be put out for public consultation in early October 2010. But watch this space - such a daft blanket speed limit proposal must be firmly opposed.

So glad I've moved out of Oxfordshire.

There's so many slow drivers, 50mph would be refreshingly fast most of the time.

Anyhow, they've turned the cameras off, so I guess it'll mostly just make for more headlight flashing at those who know how to overtake smile

Q1 - how will they pay for the new road signs .
Q2- since they can't afford SCP to enforce it, and Police funding is being slashed - how will they enforce it .

Sounds like a political white elephant .

Ok, I didn't live in Oxfordshire, but 2 miles from the border and passed through all the time.

These ccensoredts are just intefering do-gooders who can't resist meddling in a vain attempt to justify their own pathetic existence. I cannot believe that the majority of Joe Public stand for this sort of thing - it says a lot about the state of the country.
