You've got the car. You have forked out your hard earned for that expensive exhaust. You now want to make a symphony of noise all around you, but the question is where are all the tunnels?

Scouring maps and looking on the Internet for them to incorporate on a drive can be a long and painful process unless you're 'in the know' - and even then you may miss some.

There are hundreds of them across the UK, yet no one has actually plotted them on a map - until now...

UK Road Tunnels

If you know of some road tunnels, help out your fellow petrolheads by signing into a Google account (setting one up takes only a few minutes) and plot it on the map with the following details:

Road:
Length (approx):
Direction: [direction of travel]
Description: [Speed limits, safety cameras, likely times of traffic, etc]

Next step: Go out and make some noise!

I see 4, not hundreds, so I'd assume you meant to say:

I'm not going to put hundreds of them on a map - but if everyone put 1 or 2 that they know on there it'll get filled pretty quickly. Just trying to help out fellow petrolheads - won't do any harm, if anything it will get people out meeting eachother for runs more. smile

Just added the A20 in Kent, near the end of M20. Lovely pair of tunnels and a good start for the trip to LeMans! smile

I love the Clyde tunnel. Just long enough to get a couple of blasts up to the red line with the hood down.

What an excellent idea. Is there one running for France?

Just been having a look at the list and would like to mention that Stainer Street tunnel (under London Bridge Station) is not both directions. It's one way northbound. The parallel southbound tunnel (also one way) is Weston Street. There are 3 more tunnels east of Weston Street. They are:
- Bermondsey Street (A2205 one way northbound) linking St Thomas Street and Tooley Street
- Shand Street (both ways) linking Crucifix Lane with Tooley Street
- Barnham Street (both ways) linking Crucifix Lane with Tooley Street

I no longer drive in central London so don't have any info on their length. Also, I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to putting them on the map, so if anyone else would like to do so I would be most grateful.
