Were you reading Performance Car recently? (PCOTY was based in those parts)

FWIW, the only one I've done is the road from Skeggy to Louth (I think) and that was quite entertaining in parts.

Can't say I have read it.

Oh - just noticed a typo. The road from Horncastle to Louth is the A153.

The parts of the A158 I have driven weren't bad either....

leave Lincoln and head towards Washingborough, from there follow signs for Bardney, when you get to Bardney follow signs for wragby, from wragby straight through to Market Rasen, turn right at the cross roads in Market rasen and drive for about 2miles til you get to the car park for willingham woods, stop off, have a bacon sarnie and a cupa tea then go back and enjoy it in reverse OR go onto the wolds.

these are amoungst the best biker roads and car roads in Lincolnshire but be aware the old bill do like to do vasca while hidden in bushes or in the villages especially on sunny weekends.

or get to Bardney and take the road to horncastle which has some amazing bends.
OR in bardney take the Baumber road.

basically there are 3 roads leading out of Bardney which are wragby, baumber or horncastle, all 3 are excellent either on bike or car.

Can't remember the name of the road, but the road between Revesby and Horncastle is pretty tasty, some long hairpins, switchbacks and flowing corners. Can only hit your apex's on some of the corners tho, as alot of it is quite blind tho. Definately worth a drive if you enjoy a "Top Lincolnshire Road"

You are kidding right?! eek

The same A52 with daily mobile speed vans, new 40mph before Donington and an endless stream of morons who think it is clever doing 80 in a 60 whilst overtaking on blind corners?! wink

Hi Brisel,

I agree with some of the ones on here,
Paul's run from Bardney on the B1190 to Horncastle (that was the run with the two Porsche GT3s)the Washingborough to the Potterhanworth Booths is a good run but the Causeway to Bardney is so rough it'll toss you off the road!!!
or the run from Bardney through Wragby to Market Rasen B1202 then A631 but after the cuppa at Willingham woods continue onthe A631 to the B1225 X rds before Ludford turn right then run through to Baumber.

A1084 Brigg to Caistor - a lovely driving road

B1434 Howsham to Holton le Moor

As stated mind the Vascar hot spots near Willingham woods and on the B1202 Wragby - Mkt Rasen road

Oh and observe the speed limits at all times wink but especially in the built up areas otherwise we will lose these roads to more intensive policing.

Yes - apart from the camera vans and the 40 mph stretch on the subsiding Bridge End causeway. The camera vans ARE in accident blackspots - I have seen the aftermath of several serious collisions on that stretch of the road over the last 3 years. Most oncoming drivers will warn you of the vans anyway.

The morons overtaking on blind corners aren't confined to the A52. I work around the Donington/Swaton area & ok, so there's plenty of muppetry. Still a good high speed road.

B1181 Bicker (A52) - Hoffleet Stow (A17). Much too short but excellent camber, visibility plus it's mostly empty.

if you're doing this you may as well carry on the B1225 to the Ludford crossroads

Don't get me wrong, the road is a great road it's just that I'm always wary after a few near misses with other vehicles on the wrong side of the road.

On the subject of the 40mph stretch, I had been wondering why the limit is still there? Haven't they resurfaced it? Also, have you spotted the NSL sign half way along it westbound that isn't covered up, just to confuse! smile

The road hasn't been resurfaced yet. The westbound side is the worst - artics just stay as close to the centre line in a game of chicken with oncoming vehicles.

I suppose that the 40 mph restriction is cheaper than resurfacing, or at least buys the highways agency/council time to raise the funds & put repairs into next year's budget. Or they will just wait until 3 KSIs have happened due to road condiitons before hurriedly bodging it up for another year or two...

Oh, and they have finally sprayed over the NSL sign within the limit.

Ah, makes sense now.

I'll add a road B676 from Melton Mowbray to Colsterworth - not exactly Lincs but it is a nice way in to the county if you are coming from Leicestershire, and more pleasant/quicker than A607 when I an heading home!

Yeah, that road is st! Went down it on Sun, as you get to the roundabout at the back of Osbournby all of the surface is buggered.

Also, what is the deal with that temp 40mph limit? Why? The only thing I can think of is the fact that the road seems to be sinking in places.

When I was on the look out for TVRs a year or so ago I found myself visiting one of the OH's relatives in Skeggy. Went out first to one near Lincoln (IIRC) and then up to the car I eventually bought in Hull, then back to Skegness in one round trip. It was a fantastic day and fondly remembered. Early January, no one around, but bright sunshine and dry roads.

Just can't remember the exact route. getmecoat

B1398 Lincoln/burton village to shorpe-great scenery/good corners all along the lincoln cliff

Really like this route either way, apart from the villages in the middle, watch out for the dip at glentham as can easily bottom your car if it's hit at speed.

One of my favourite roads that, still take the Tiv for a run into Lincoln when I'm up that way.

Top tip!

Went for a pootle about last Sunday while a good chunk of the nation stayed indoors to watch the cricket. Bardney to Horncastle to Louth to Mkt Rasen to Wragby to Horncastle to Revesby to Boston.

Had a bit of a gentle cruise with a group of bikers on the road from Rasen to Wragby. Apologies to the old couple in the Daihatsu Foutrack who got buzzed by 12 bikes & an RS4...

Is the Willingham Woods stop a good one? It seemed to be very busy when I went past.
