A34 M40 Junction

Must be mad but heading north Friday 23rd late afternoon. see this are as potential bottle neck any avoidence routes. from there north to lakes. leaving southampton about 4.00 pm

I often travel up the M40 on a friday afternoon and although it does slow a little around junct 9 (A34/A41) and junct 10 (A43) it is never a major obstacle and certainly not worth setting off cross country, because although there are some great driving roads in Oxfordshire, they will not aid you in heading north very quickly!

Turn off the A34 at the junction before the M40 then follow the road through Middleton-Stoney and join the M40 at junction 10.
