Just had a top weekend in Scotland. Great roads everywhere, but this one is spectacular enough to post on here.

Click here to see it on the map

Pics not up to GetCarters standards, but I thought I'd share them anyway smile

Was amazed to be chased up the road by a HGV!

Isn't Scotland brilliant? (for roads at least.... wink )

Nice pics... I am heading up to the west coast next month for a bit of a road trip, and that pass is on the list. Can't wait. Hoping for less snow though! Can you recomend any other 'must dos' in the area?

Thanks, glad you liked the pics. There was no snow on the road, it just added to the scenery smile

Other roads in the area? Where do I start? Have a search back on this forum, there's loads.

The Applecross road is actually not that great a drive but it's so spectacular you have to go.

What sort of roads do you like? There's everything from well sighted hugely fast A-roads to challenging bumpy singletack (some of these are also A roads!)

Oh, I see you have a TVR. That'll be smooth fast roads you're after then wink

How about the A82 from Glasgow to Fort William via Glencoe (stunning, mind the deer at night). Then the A830 to Mallaig (stunning), ferry to Skye. A lap of the Island (stunning) and over the bridge to the Kyle of Lochalsh. Pop over to Applecross (wow), loop around to Shieldaig, down Glen Torridon (singletrack but well sighted and fast. And stunning.), back down towards Strathcarron (lovely). Then down the A87 (amazing) and home? Should be fun for a couple of days.

Oh, and it's stunning. If the suns out, which it could be in May smile

Ah less of that smile
Well, you have pretty much just written out my route! Starting near Loch Lomond (well starting in Essex actually, so fair bit to do before I get there!), so will then head through Glen Coe, onto Fort William and then onto Skye via Mallaig! Then the Applecross was one deviation I was planning, then heading over to Inverness, then Fort Augustus, then from their straight to Edinburgh. So looks like I have chosen well. Really looking forward to it.

And we are hoping for some fine weather, but we will have to wait and see, nothing I can do about it!

Thanks.

LT.
