Nancy to the Ring

Evenin all,

In April I shall be wanting to visit the 'ring at the end of week touring the French Alps. I shall be approaching the 'ring from Nancy in France, and the route will take me up through the Moselle.

I don't know Germany very well, and the roads can be a bit crowded, like here in the UK. Can anyone recommend some picturesque/challenging routes through this part of Germany? This may be a long shot 'cos its not the most obvious way of getting to the 'ring, but hey I have to ask don't I?

So far my attempts at finding an interesting route to the ring from Calais have not met with success. Can I do better when approaching from a completely different angle?

Can anyone offer any good roads running from the Mosel area to the Eifel?

Went from Champagne region to the Ring last year, picked up the Mosel at Trier and followed it to Cocham. (veryu nice place) stayed there the night and then up to the Ring. The road from Trier to Cocham not to busy, beautiful sceanery.
