Eurotrip suggestions please
Discussion
A few of us are off on a weeks hoon in Europe at the end of march.
We usually expect to do a total of 3000 to 3500 miles.
We have had great fun doing this for a few years now and normally concentrate on France, Germany, Austria. Switzerland, Italy & CZ.
Given that the weather at end of march may be poor for tripping round the Alps, we were considering heading more in the direction of Spain.
We will still be using the Eurotunnel via Calais.
Cany anyone recommend a good route and some good hotels please?
Thanks !
David.

Am doing something similar later on this year too. We're sailing to the north coast of Spain and heading east from there, across the Pyrenees, the south coast of France and then North up through the French Alps and parts of Switzerland. Lake Lausanne too. Don't think you can really go wrong with the roads round there but I understand the Gt St Bernard Pass in Switzerland is something to behold. We're also doing some of the roads that were featured on one of the Top Gear episodes (where they took the Zonda GT40 and F430 to the Millau bridge) on the way too. The D907 in southern France is one I think..

Iam trying to plan a route to Monte Carlo this year for the grand prix we want to include stelvio pass in to the trip and a couple more

The Stelvio is a long way from any direct road
from Calais to Monte Carlo.
If you have never done any Alpine passes before,
then I wouldn't start with the Stelvio.
It may be one of the big ones, but it is very far
from being one of the best ones.
The Col de Grand St. Bernard is indeed stunning.
Also try the Grimsell, Susten, Furka and Nufenen passes - these are all excellent Swiss passes but don't try them on a weekend as too many bikers!
Col de Iseran, Col de Izoard and Col de Galibier in France are all extremely good and have less traffic than the popular Swiss passes although they are popular with cyclists.
N85 is great but does get busy.
