... Saddlescombe road Brighton -> Fulking short but sweet very early in the mornings when there is no-one else around.

Ditchling beacon road - not bad again, early in the morning

Not sure what car you have, if it's some kind of 4wd evoscoobyprenzaXXXI type thing then there are plenty of track type roads around Handcross Hill and down towards Lancing.

Just keepaway from the A272 and the A23 as there is a rather pretty unmarked Evo VIII in pale powwder blue drivin by the Sussex police. Nice people who like to hand out NIPs and SP60s ( unfortunately, I speak from experience )

Get plenty of crashes there as well. Going Brighton to Ditchling there is a bit of weird camber (just before the farm turning on the right) which catches people out. Seems that they get drawn into the ditch and over correct, ending up in the trees on the other side.

I wouldn't like to try it if it's icy!! The thing that gets me are the cyclists, they must be mad, it's a hell of a climb, and with the cornors and dips their not too easy to spot sometimes.

... naah this is just a slight incline for serious cyclists - seen blokes climb it on fixed wheelies! Legs like sticks, muscles of iron!

There are loads of Driving roads around Brighton heading mainly East and West away. Don't stress too much about Cops on the A272, they have to patrol it due to lots of Motocyclists driving at Warp Factor Spastic and becoming one with the scenery, mainly through complete excess speed, crazy overtaking (usually over junctions) or too much faith in their bikes. I LOVE the A272 leading into Petworth and then out towards Midhurst simply one of the most awesome routes you can take. Continue on and the route into Petersfield/Winchester is another dream... I completed my response car course on these very roads and in the right conditions it's awesome.

Another good one is the road into Ditchling and then take the B2116 leading through Plumpton and then Offham. Overtaking opportunities are few but the road is again twisty and challenging (great first thing in the morning). Continue towards Ringmer and take the B2192 for a fast road through to Halland or from Ringmer take the B2124 through Laughton. Again fast paced roads, overtake opportunies a plenty and great scenery.

Closer to Brighton take the Devils Dyke turn off and follow the road through to Poyning, Fulking and then Edburton. Great in the summer and Shepard and Dog is a worth pub to stop off in.

Just remember to be safe, smooth and progressive and it makes it good 'legal' fun.

one of my old haunts is the plupmton college road from the lewes end then onto under hill lane and then onto the main road upto and past jack and jill then onto the a23 for a short while then right up snaky lane then right again along the saddlescombe road (where i was envolved in a fatal accident years ago) then out to henfield then down to bramber then on to the a27 back towards brighton.Used to do this run well most of it alot in my younger days and sued certain points to gauge how well i was doing for example underhill lane has a yump and if i didnt hit top of third (90ish mph) then i didnt think i was doing very well.

I saw Sussex Police's latest acquisition tonight - a fully liveried Lotus Exige with lightbar and everything...

That'll be to catch all those naughty smokers when the ban kicks in, eh? rolleyes

Luckily it looks like it's just a promo stunt, but I must say it gave me a slight shock out on the road when I saw it...
