Just got back from holiday in Wales, but through a combination of circumstance (trying to find a campsite) and bloody mindedness (missus doesn't approve of spirited driving whilst on board) I managed to engineer a few circuits of the EVO triangle.

First side (red road) great sweepy moorland stuff with (sheep aside) some great open corners. Felt bizarrely familiar, from all the photography around there. Second side (yellow road) foresty with some tough camber and dips. There's one demon hump right in the middle of on a downhill right sweeper then sharper left after the hump which almost caught me out.
Green stuff good for faster work and dispatching of slower traffic. Mysterious how no speed camera signs for ages and then suddenly, as soon as you turn on to that road they pop up everywhere...

Also had some top drives up the A4086 Llanberis pass and on the A470 out of Blaenau Ffestiniog into Betws-y-coed too.

Me and the ST had great fun.

We'll be doing the triangle on the North Wales S2K meet in September.

Nice photos - and even nicer cars! I was also up there last week and got a few laps in. Favourite stretch was the bit on moorland, as you could see far enough ahead to feel comfortable squeezing the throttle. Still, I did pass 2 police cars coming the opposite way.

Have to agree with brotherharry about the A470 from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Betws-y-coed, too. A great road that I only discovered on the final day of the holiday. If you get it when lightly trafficked, it'll be great for practicing your lines on. Whilst staying within your own lane of course! Shame the weather was so poor for me. And the road was busy. Still, next time...

I did a couple of laps today thumbup Spotted a red mx5 a few times doing the route in the opposite direction to me, exchanged flashes the third time we passed each other. Someone from here maybe? I was driving an 06 plate red mk5 golf gti.

My total route was boring motorway M56 etc to Horseshoe Pass – A5104 – A494 – A5 – A494 to Bala – A4212 – A470 to just before Betws-y-Coed – A5 back towards triangle – A543 – B4501 (x 2) – B5105 to Ruthin – A494 back to M56

I got virtually a totally clear run on the A4212 (my favourite). Unbelievable! cloud9 Also, spotted an AM V8 Vantage exactly the same as yours Shadytree on the A4212. It even had a V8 private plate, possibly in convoy with a black Maserati Gransport (judging by the wheels or it may have been a 4200) that was spotted just before. Anyway, a fun day

Did 'The Triangle' yesterday!

Not a bad length of tarmac. It's no wonder as to why it gets used for 'testing'(!) and photography.

I managed to do a couple of 'laps' before the rains came, each one under 8 mins . Being a Friday, it was nice and quiet so the drive was more enjoyable. No caravans up there, folks!!

'thepickle' included the B5105 - which is a must! Not as open and free flowing but technical and challenging. Also the A4212. Yes to that aswell!

It's amazing that more people don't live in Wales, enjoying the scenery, the roads and the, er, roads! But then that would mean there would be more of the Welsh (!)(?)Hmmmm........

I think that some of the routes up in North Yorks are comparable, eg up towards Castleton. Probably. What I must do one day is (what I guess we all want to do ) to 'tour' North of the Border. Do you remember what J.C said when asked what his favourite race tracks of all time were.?? After stating a few he then finished by saying "Scotland" !

Certainly could ST, (but then Plod would know exactly where to station his scamera vans............) so most probably not the best of ideas after all.

The day I took those pics with the perfect blue sky they were there flying. That pic with Llyn Brenig in the background, I was sat there having a sandwich and a jet did a number of quite low passes. It was absolutely brilliant I must say!! Look in the sky in the pic above I posted with the sweeping bend....see the little black shape?? It looks as perfect for flying as it is for driving around there

Nah, that corner looks like it needs to be cut by a fair bit if you want any chance of getting airborne...

I ended up doing a bit of a monster route around N.Wales today....I blame this thread! silly Including Horseshoe Pass, Hirnant Pass to Lake Vyrnwy, B4391, A4212, B4407 and the triangle. 265 miles in total (starting Warrington area). Spotted a white Peugeot 106 Rallye on the triangle a couple of times, anyone from here? Also, there were an unusually high number of mk1 Toyota mr2’s about, there was a white one that I remember in particular on the A5 A meet maybe? Anyway, a few pics...

Hirnant Pass, just south of Bala. I thought it looked like an interesting road on the map so gave it a go Stunning scenery, pics don’t do it justice.

Heading north-west on the B4391 towards Bala. Not been down here before, not bad thumbup
