4 days and need to take my Porsche to Europe - ideas pls?
Discussion
Hi all, not had my C4S for long and I need to go blast around Europe for a few days to just enjoy the car properly, has anyone got a good suggestion for a route that has some decent hotels along the way going via Eurotunnel and Belgium (to see some mates) other than that the roads are my oyster..!
cheers

check the other threads there are lots on this - I have just done a trip like you suggest only 4 days not a week - I went across the A40 through Belgium past Brussels to Germany and then down to catch the A7 stopping at a place near Bamberg used by the Eurohoon
I then crashed down the A7 to Fuser and went on through to Merano in Northern Italy taking in the awesome Timmeljosch
on day 3 I went over several passes to the Grossglockner (simply a stunning stretch of road but the weather can be bad up above 8k feet - if you caught a day with dry roads for your trip well you would have a ball)
if I had a longer period as you seem to have I'd do broadly the same to Merano (the Steigenberger Thermal Hotel is superb - only open 6 months and award winning) then take time up in the Dollomites around Cortina (we did several routes on last years Eurohoon - fantastic roads) - before doing the Grossglockner on the return trip allowing a shade more time for stops along the way
make sure you fit in an ealt AM blast up the A9 on the return - we clocked 180mph on a stretch up to Nurnberg - great road
have fun

did the same thing a few years ago with my ex. we did calias to le mans, le mans to monaco,(if moneys a bit tight, you dont have to stay in an expensive hotel, there are cheap and cheerfull ones). if in monaco, eat at the TOP TIP bar, excellant swordfish. then from monaco to marranello. marranello to geneva. geneva to nurburing. nurburing to uk.

If you are going to Europe to visit restaurants,
and faff about in posh hotels, then by all means visit France, Switzerland and Italy.
There are quite a few good Alpine passes too.

If, however, you are going to Europe to give your new
chariot a good sound thrashing to within an
inch of it's Vmax, then only Germany fits
the bill.
The A3 from Koln to Frankfurt between midnite and
6am does it for me everytime. IMHO one of Europe's
finest roads.
Some bits of the A5 and the A9 are good too.
Foot flat on the floor for ten miles no problems
if you pick the right time.
You should really take it through Belgium into Germany (via Spa)and give it a good run round the Nurburgring, all the roads including the Autobahns are great fun. Check out some accomodation at Sliders guesthouse. www.slidersguesthouse.com/ringvid.htm
He usually caters for bikers going to the ring but is very keen on all things motor propelled...also huge fund of info on the rings do's and dont's this can all be done over a long weekend ! enjoy!!
PS if you dont want to thrash your pride and joy have a trip round in this!!
