The roads by me have become genuinely un-drivable. My daughter is now 3 tyres and 2 alloys in and I've had 2 tyres destroyed in 2 years.

There's a number of fast, tight B roads frequented by cyclists and heavy traffic. On occasion, I genuinely wince as I watch near misses with all parties taking avoiding action.

My question is, who makes the spending decisions? They're currently replacing 2, working, perfectly functional level crossings. Causing utter chaos. My question is, who on earth made that decision? The roads they're on are literally ruts and rock filled holes.

Do we have a say locally? All the residents have written to the council regularly and our local mp.

It seems either dodgy or incompetent. To me i think it's a budget burning activity before March. Anyone else see this flawed decision making concerning our roads.

Wouldn’t the level crossing replacements be under the remit of Network Rail and not your local council or Highways Agency?

Anyway, just because it functions reliably now doesn’t mean it will continue to do so as equipment does become obsolete, become life expired or simply too old and will not work properly with other upgraded rail equipment further up the line and in control centres.

Sorry I meant pedestrian crossing. I get obsolescence, but surely priorities need to focus on safety? The crossings work...... the roads almost don't.

National Highways are responsible for motorways and major A roads. All other roads are the responsibility of your local authority.

Get stuck into your MP too, this is the sort of stuff that tends to be an easy win for them to be seen as doing something.
