Driving the M8 Glasgow - Edinburgh around 7;20pm tonight the overhead gantries warned of closure eastbound at junction 4A.

Suprisingly the tailback wasn't too bad. Getting nearer first thing I saw was that traffic was being diverted up the offramp then back on to the motorway immediately from the on ramp on the overpass. Loads of police cars in the vicinity.

Going over the top of the off ramp the cause of the closure was apparent. A male standing on the wrong side of the fence over the eastbound lanes and being held onto by several people.

Coming back west later in the evening I saw there was in fact a crash getting cleared up on the M8 under the overpass. I'm guessing a driver saw the guy climb the railing and thought he was going to jump and braked hard or swerved causing a collision.

Tricky one. Not sure I would criticise anyone for an unpredictable reaction in those circumstances.

Good morning. I wanted to apologise about yesterday long delay on the motorway at the m8 junction 4a. It was me on the other side of the bridge, but I did not plan to jump off and the 2 police officer did not hold me. So the story is I was driving my truck up on the slip road and I saw 2 police officer holding a women who try to finish her life with jumping off the bridge. I stopped my truck and run over there and jumped over the bridge and climbed behind the women to make aure she won't fall down. As I HGV driver always have straps in my truck so I asked another guy to bring straps from my truck. So we was able to strap my self and the suicidal women into the bridge until the fire and rescue team arrived and secure the women of from the bridge. I was holding a women nearly 2 hours because the 2 police officer was not enough to hold her due to the raised barriers on the side of the bridge.
