Welsh Road Trip?
Discussion
Hi All -
Was planning to to the epic north scotland trip that have been eulogised on here in a couple of weeks time - but its dawned on me that (given we're in the south of england) - the getting up there and down again would be almost a day each way, so a bit too far for a long weekend....
Seem to recall folk taking about some welsh driving roads with similar enthusiasm?
Looking for a nice drive to somewhere - not overly twisty or challanging - but some nice scenery and chance to give the car a bit of a decent run of the motorway network.
Anyone got any recommendation of routes of places to stay?
Cheers guys

Hi BERGS2,
This is a good post. Takes you from one end of Wales to the other, linking the M4 to North Wales Expressway along the Dragon's Back:

I would personally do my variation at the end as it adds some truly spectacular roads.

Really good concentration of driving roads around the brecon beacons and in mid / north wales (evo triangle) although the north wales roads have lots of speed cameras and unmarked cars. Was planning to to the epic north scotland trip that have been eulogised on here in a couple of weeks time - but its dawned on me that (given we're in the south of england) - the getting up there and down again would be almost a day each way, so a bit too far for a long weekend....

Personally I'd do a day in brecons, then head west to Pembrokeshire (night at Browns Hotel in Laugharne with best steak restaurant weve ever been to, or near Lotus chinese overlooking the beach at Pendine) then take in Tenby, coastal road up to St Davids through Newgate, stop off at Aberearon (Harbourmaster Hotel) or New Quay and then take in North Wales roads. Stop up near Dolgellau (Penmaenchauf near Doc is ace).
