Critique my Eurotrip plans
Discussion
I've booked to do the below trip in early July, and am interested in input from anyone who's done similar before. Is there anywhere worth adding/avoiding? Is there anything I should make a point of doing or seeing en route?
Day 1: The long, and boring day.
Home to Lausanne. Stopping via Reims for the customary photo (I know it's not permitted), and staying in Lausanne because I used to live there. Ideally aiming to make this one as painless as possible, because it's a means to an end.
Day 2: Alps.
Lausanne to Vaduz. Heading over to Bern, then Interlaken, then down to (and over) the Grimselpasse and Furka Pass. From there, I'll head on East, picking up the cross-country 17 at Altdorf and finishing in Vaduz (because I'm a child and wanted to tick a new country off).
Day 3: Drive to Munich.
Heading North out ot Vaduz into Austria, and joining the 200/205 at Dornbirn. Cutting cross-country to Oberstaufen, then on to Castle Neuschwanstein (bit of touristing), finishing in Munich.
Day 4: Autobahnen.
After a trip to the BMW Museum, I'm heading to Stuttgart for the evening. Probably the easiest day of driving, but not sure what the Autobahn 8 is like, or whether it's derestricted to allow better progress. Anything else I should prioritise seeing in Munich?
Day 5: To the Ring.
Stuttgart to the Ring, again a day of easy driving I hope, following the Porsche Museum in the morning. Anything else worth doing/seeing in Stuttgart?

We used Autobahn 8 past Stuttgart last Sept and it was awful (10 hour drive from Austria to France). Miles of roadworks due to a new railway being built plus other works. Hopefully things may have progressed since.
Porsche museum is good, Mercedes by all accounts even better.
Personnally prefer the Nufenen to the Furka between Gletsch and Hospental.

If you have time in Interlaken I would recommend taking the funicular railway up to Harder Kulm. The view from the top is stunning. There's also a restaurant although I didn't eat there.
P.S I'd also recommend the Susten Pass.
Agreed! The Funi at Interlaken is stunning. Thankfully I've ticked that box (plus the restaurant) already.P.S I'd also recommend the Susten Pass.

Finally got the chance to research this, and the Nufenen pass looks fantastic. There's no Streetview at all for it, so no idea on the condition of the road surface etc. How did you find it? I might see if I can do a loop of the 3 passes? Or perhaps Nufenen and Gotthard instead? C70R said:

It's been 4 or 5 years since last doing but from memory road surface was fine. It's the quietest of the passes in that area and imv flows best east to west. We'll be there again early July and from Lake Lucerne doing Gotthard, Nufenen, Grimsell, Susten and staying in Andermatt.
So, two options for my Alps day.
1. Grimsel and Furka passes: https://goo.gl/maps/W6Ka52GQH7WfNGyg9
2. Neufenen and Gotthard passes: https://goo.gl/maps/VQ8cPNLuuXVnTu5HA
Any thoughts?

250 miles and six hours of driving on Swiss mountain roads ?
That's not a holiday, that's an endurance.
Bring plenty of cash for the inevitable speeding fines from the car hating Swiss.
Bring even more cash if you want lunch, it will either be seriously expensive
or eye-wateringly expensive.

Having once lived there, I know Switzerland's idiosyncrasies well.250 miles and six hours of driving on Swiss mountain roads ?

From previous experience of doing things like the nc500, 6hrs of driving between 0800 and 1800 should be more than manageable.
I must be doing something wrong (along with friends) as never had a speeding fine in Switzerland (or anywhere else) even driving a well known German sports car. Just enjoy the glorious roads and scenery. You don't need to be going mad to still have some fun in the mountains.
