Congestion Charge - Did I? (sigh)

Phone them up and ask them, I have always found them to be helpful.

That way you might just get to pay the CC charge and not a penalty if you leave it beyond the payment deadline.

I had this in the past a few times, as others said, call them.

In the end I just added autopay to save the hassle - yes it costs a tenner but it's just simpler as a "just in case"

Just to add that TFL no longer charge the £10 registration fee for Autopay.

You can set it up for Congestion Charge and ULEZ if needed.

Personally, I can't see any downside to doing this.

If you enter the zone, are seen by the CCTV and then billed, then you pay what you should

If for some reason, you briefly drive into the zone, maybe just one small side road and the cameras don't spot you then you save money.

Times have changed then, they have told me in the past that I had driven into the zone and accepted payment over the phone.

The system should tell them, they will after all be issuing you with a fine if you have driven in without paying, but maybe it is a GDPR issue rather than a technical issue?
