A bit last minute but my friend and I have 3-4 days off at the beginning of February. We want to go on a road trip with some occasional sightseeing, couple of good restaurants.

Any recommendations? Was thinking of somewhere in Wales?

Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks

Where are you based?

The only proper answer to your original question is the Scottish Highlands. But a bit more info as to where you're coming from would help.

Depends where you are and I am biased but if Northern Scotland is too big a stretch, the whole area around the North Pennines, so N.Yorks, East Cumbria, County Durham, Northumberland and the Borders is just superb and largely deserted. I'm often reluctant to suggest it is as it's on my doorstep and I like that it is so quiet but I've driven all over the UK and genuinely think the roads around here are as good as anywhere. Scotland has more spectacular scenery to offer but until you get really far north, it is stuffed with campervans and driving can be frustrating.

North obviously if you want the empty roads.
Just keep an eye on the weather, February is sometimes snow time up in the hills.

This.

But depends on what area you are starting from and how long you want to drive.
