I posted up here last year asking about some good driving roads out of North London (Enfield). I had an absolutely stunning suggestion which I tried a couple of times but the thread has since been deleted and I can't find the route in my google maps history!

I'd love any suggestions anyone has as to some good roads leading out of Enfield. I've got a bit of time off for the first time in a long while and dusted off the weekender for a bit of fun!

Come out of Enfield in to Epping past the water reservoir and make your way to Epping to join the B181 to Royston. Then try the B180 to get a bit more north. There is some other small nice ride heading to Romford going cross country but again small sections rather than whole roads

IIRC the A507 is quite a nice road, not ridden it for a few years though. Up the A10 north of Buntingford.

If you get up as far as Royston, try the B3091

Nice video but the B3091 is in Dorset !

OP, if you get out of London head for almost anywhere east of Stansted, i.e. Finchingfield, Thaxted etc.
Avoid Braintree and Sudbury.

Up the A10 to the M25, one exit clockwise and you're in Epping forest. Then go through Epping and turn right through North Weald, then head West then North. Or go through Theydon and Abridge, turn left along the A113 and stay on it up through Ongar.

Would echo all of the above. The B1057 between Finchingfield and Haverhill is a particular favourite. There are lots of nice routes to get to Finchingfield too, through the Ongars, Fyfield and the Rodings.

Many many years ago, a good target was to break 100mph in the Euston underpass when it was quiet.

Those were the halcyon days when the Westway also had a 70mph limit
