South of the A64 - talk to me...
Discussion
The Wolds have some lovely driving roads - no especial recommendations but try a route from Howsham (a few miles off A64 , south of Malton ) and drive via Leavening , Fridaythorpe and Wetwang , then south on B1248 to Beverley . Or do what I often do - leave Malton on B1248 and just busk it, taking random turns as the mood suits. No nav or map required . And it's a lovely area , I live a spit away from the Moors but the roads there are nearly all so well known they're cliches - ditto a lot of the Dales . East Yorkshire offers something different, as does my route from York to Cadwell via the Isle of Axholme - but that's another story .
Oh , go on then, You need to do this early morning , before the bikers get up . York - take B1228 off ring road . A great drive to Howden , on a far better road than many well known routes in the Dales and Moors . Howden to Goole, a town never to be confused with Venice , then the A161 across the flatlands of the Isle of Axholme. A631 east from just west of Gainsbrough , then east to Market Rasen, South on B1225 just west of Ludford , then east on A157 until sign south on minor roads to Cadwell .
Arrive, enjoy bacon roll and coffee at the UK's best circuit . Look forward to a great day's racing and back on a fast drive on empty roads . I've done this trip many times in my R400 Seven, now do it in MX5 and early on a spring morning it is sublime.
