I have recently moved to the area and have been exploring a few back roads. Sadly, some NSL routes I have enjoyed in the past are now 40 or 50 limits. Any recommendations please? I don’t mind undulating and love twisty, but overtaking opportunities for a car are needed too.

B4100 from Bicester to Banbury via Aynho then aim Kidlington - various roads off or continue via Gaydon area.
B4030 from Bicester to join the A44 to Chipping via Enstone.
Aim Burford then B 4425 to ultimately outskirts Cirencester - passes through Bibury.
Burford then gives roads in/ out Cotswolds etc.
As ever all of above can be busy at the wrong time but plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Thank you.
B4100 is mostly a 50 limit. Nice road though.
Burford is at the junction of many good roads

There's some nice roads between Towcester and Brackley running through villages.

A favourite of mine is the A413 between Silverstone and Buckingham.

I stay in Priors Hardwick , NW of Banbury when I am at Silverstone and the early morning run to the circuit , along lovely, empty and interesting country roads and through quintessentially English villages , is a delight . Once I did the run in my R400 Seven in company with a Maserati Khamsin and an original Shelby Mustang 350 GT - that was special, as was returning with a very quick C Type (possibly even areal one ) . I am there for the Classic this weekend and look forward to reacquainting myself with the route.

????

The A413 doesnt go to silverstone.

Id say there are no decent driving roads round here. Unless you have something suited to off road use. Piss porr road surfaces and lots of subsidence see to that

The A413 runs from Buckingham to Whittlebury to the A43 junction north east of Silverstone then south west into the village.

Where would you go for good roads?

Quite a few nice roads. But doesn't Oxfordshire have a blanket (aka stupid) 50mph limit on all roads that used to be NSL pretty much. frown

From Banbury way also. I usually end up on a run out Cotswolds way via Chipping Norton as you guys have already discussed. Sometimes get good runs sometimes bad but on a clear run it's good fun.

Burford / Broadway / Bibury etc all good fun. As is the run between Banbury and Stratford / Caffeine & Machine smile

Yes. Enforced by potholes everywhere. Worst maintained roads in the country, IMHO (and I live in Oxfordshire).

Late reply, but wales, the north, west coast of scotland.

Certainly not anywhere round here. They are all destroyed surfaces, way too busy and few with decent sight lines.

I had a drive out on Monday, hoping for empty roads and wasn’t disappointed. A few other petrolheads doing the same thing!

Went from Ardley to Cirencester via Charlbury & Burford. Hit a pot hole near Barnsley and got a puncture mad New tyre needed. Came back via Quenington, Lechlade, Clanfield, Aston, Eynsham, Bladon.

That road appears in pretty much every test drive video by Harry Metcalfe. If it's good enough for him... smile

Drove this road for the first time on Saturday, it’s a bloody great road! Really one to concentrate on but the dips, crests and cambers make up for a very fun bit of road.
