best roads around knighton powys

Staying in the area and looking for a nice route, can anyone recommend any roads or mountain passes?

More for views and scenery than adrenaline.

The best road we found was Aberystwyth to Rhayader.
Aberystwyth> A4120 > Pontarfynach (Devils Bridge Falls) > B4574 > "National Cycle Route 81"> then around the reservoirs in the Elan Valley onto the A470 into Rhayader

It's great for bikes, but I also use it for drives out, takes you on some epic driving roads.

Not going to find the good mountain passes too close to Knighton. The road to newtown out the top of town is a nice road. if willing to put a few miles on clock head out to Llanidloes And then up to Clywedog Reservoir. Do a complete circle of the lake. then head out to Machynlleth over one of the better passes. then off to Aberystwyth for a stroll along the sea front. Then take the A44 back to Newtown.

Or head out past Clun towards Church Stretton and head over the Long Mynd.
