Govt plan toll roads.
Discussion
As more electric cars are sold, which pay neither 'road tax' or fuel duty, the government's take from motorists gets less, so they're considering setting up more toll roads to make up the shortfall.
If you cannot afford an electric car, or you live somewhere it can't be charged, you have no option but to continue driving ice, so you will be taxed three times. This is another regressive tax. Kick the poor.
eta change 'planning' to 'considering'

Govy will be trying to think of a way to apply fuel duty to the elec used to charge EVs...
Charging network stations are easy, but of course it's tricky for domestic chargers unless they can tap into the smart meter system and do it that way.
Govt are not good at everything, but thinking up ways to apply taxation is the one thing they are very very good at indeed

Some transport expert on the radio suggested this morning that electric cars may in fact be charged more than petrol cars, as they are not currently paying their "fair share" towards road maintenance etc. If you cannot afford an electric car, or you live somewhere it can't be charged, you have no option but to continue driving ice, so you will be taxed three times. This is another regressive tax. Kick the poor.
Let's see if that becomes reality.

Any actual evidence to support this?If you cannot afford an electric car, or you live somewhere it can't be charged, you have no option but to continue driving ice, so you will be taxed three times. This is another regressive tax. Kick the poor.

Article I read online. Maybe I should've put 'considering' rather than 'planning' but my point still stands.
Do you consider it unlikely then?
I think the government probably waste a huge amount of time and money on consultations that don’t go anywhere!Do you consider it unlikely then?
