A303 Winterbourne Stoke yesterday

Anyone know what happened here? Got to near the end of the dual carriageway two miles west of the village and then just sat in a queue for a good 30 - 40 minutes. Eventually I was able to take a u-turn as many other drivers did and bypassed that section, and it must have still been blocked when I rejoined further on as there was no traffic from that direction. Never saw any blue lights though, but just wondered what happened.
