Evening
Just checking if anyone knows what timescale you have when passing through a matrix sign and it potentially changed. Passed through a 60 sign today slowed down and going about 58 as going through.
As I passed I saw a flash which could have been any car on the road which got me thinking what if the sign changed to 50 when I went through. If so cars wouldn't have the chance to go down to 50 in the split second.
The next matrix was 50 which made me think had it changed. The flash may not be for me however if it had changed to 50 then I would have been over the limit without knowing. I have read the hadecs cameras flash when the limit changes however only read that on forums and wondered if anyone can confirm!

Cheers
Any idea if the flash indicates the change of speed limit? Possible someone was flashed but just for reference really as I'm 99.9% it was 60 as I went through.

It’s a minute.

I’ll qualify that with Auto Express made a FOI request last year? and published the response.

Yep. I had the great honour of being invited on the exclusive motorway speed awareness course last year. They confirmed one minute. Obviously they don't want you doing a full force stop with your PCCBs while being followed by an HGV....yikes

Obviously they don’t, but how are the general public to know it is not immediate?
Which brings us back to:
Regular retesting, and:
Public information broadcasts.

Ah yes I do wonder about this. I also find that after the restrictions lift they often just turn upcoming signs off rather than display the NSL sign.

So you go through a marked 50 section and then come to next gantry which is off, and the rest are all off… but the last thing I went through said 50.

I would much rather they leave all gantries to always show the current speed limit on the section to avoid confusion, at least when a reduced limit has been shown within the previous 15 mins or so.

Seeing as my nearest 2 motorways are the "Smart" M3 and the M25 that's very useful to know - thanks. thumbup
