Cambridge to Oxford route - post-A14 upgrade
Discussion
Traditionally I considered two routes for the Cambridge - Oxford journey. Assuming not at rush hour.
A1 -> M25 -> M40
1hr 50mins, 105 miles. The long route, nice cruising unless you’re unlucky.
Via Milton Keynes
1hr 50mins, 87.7 miles. Direct but featuring 45 roundabouts!
However after the new A14 completion, Google is showing me a new route:
A14 -> A45 -> A43
1hr 40mins, 96.4 miles. Seems it might be the quickest, perhaps the best of both previous routes.
However I’ve never been on the A45 or A43. How busy are they or liable to problems?
