Will be driving up from Chepstow in a few weeks to a holiday cottage in Ffestiniog. I’ll be by myself so quite fancy taking the scenic route up and hopefully explore some of the more interesting roads without the gf moaning at any spirited driving ha!

Any good recommendations?

Don't miss the B4391 Ffestiniog to Bala road only 8 miles but last week it was empty , all the B roads are a joy as is the whole area , barely any traffic and plenty of safe overtaking spots

Thanks all, will take a look. The only downside is I recently sold the Megane RS so will be in the gf’s 95bhp Audi A1 laugh

Shouldn't be a problem, a few weeks back I drove the B4391 in my Riley (75-85bhp) and had an absolute blast!

Here's my route northwards: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1691946

Drove the Bala to Ffestiniog road. Definitely a good one although I probably built up the expectations too high.

Came up behind two other cars on the road but got by them straight away. Which was lucky as they were doing the usual 35-40 mph.

The roads in general around the national park are quite fun, just a shame that they can be so busy. Lots of long queues of traffic sat behind an HGV with no one overtaking when the opportunity arose.

Overtaking is a dying art. The skills of managing momentum and using a gearbox effectively have been dialled out of driving in favour of NVH removal and ‘tech’ enhancements.

Ffestiniog to Bala, agreed. I'd also say the A road from the power station to Bala. Fast, sweeping and great scenery.

On a bike for me, but memories of some epic rides around there.
