In a couple of weeks, I'm going to meet one of my pals at the Jim Clark Museum and after we've had a good look round, we'll head over to Moffat area to do a little hiking and overnight.

I know the borders well enough to know there are some awesome roads that would be worth seeking out but I don't the area well enough to know exactly where. Initial thought was to pick our way over to Selkirk and the A708 looks quite tasty but I seem to rememeber the A701 further north being a beauty too but it would need a slight detour.

Hard to go wrong really; you could always take the A708 to St Marys Loch then head for Tweedsmuir past Megget and Talla then head south along the A701 to Moffat?

I’d suggest this too.

If you have the time, it’s also worth heading over the other side of the M74. The roads around Leadhills and Crawfordjohn to Crawick are pretty epic.

Thanks both. I'll take those on board. Should be fun!

The A708 should be mostly free of bikers by now.
