Hi all,

I'll soon have a day to kill in Bangor. Happy to do a drive of around 50-100 miles.

I'm thinking down through Snowdonia and along the coast? Any suggestions? Looking for scenery as well as decent roads as I might do a photoshoot of the car.

some real good roads in there, takes in the llanberis pass, nant gwynant, rhyd road, the migneint moors, betws and capel, ogwen valley, nant francon and back to bangor.

a lot of the best roads and views in the north

Is a 'photoshoot of the car' pretentious wally-speak for I will take some pictures of my car?

I read that post title and thought ' the OP will feature on some special with a voiceover by Trever McDermott, or will get a 2 parter on Sky Crime '.

Still, fair play for being honest about it

I'll second that route. Be careful on the Migneint Moors though (The Ysbyty Ifan road). Narrow, with the edges of the tarmac often raised above the neighbouring ground, sheep, and the odd oncoming vehicle that doesn't keep right to the left (or is just too big!). And the bit at the A5 end, off the moors, has high hedges making blindish bends.

Lovely stretch of road but was more relaxing in the 70s when cars were narrower!

Capel Curig to Bethesda on the A5 is absolutely gorgeous - although can get busy and you need to take care through the Ogwen section as there's always lots of hikers etc and cars pulling in and out of the car parks.

It's good, keep it to yourself! No you Tube!

Although having not driven every road in the UK I wouldn't dare to say it was the best.

I was there on Thursday, very nice. There are plenty of others in Wales.

You're wrong wink Fantastic road, but around there I'd put it with half a dozen others equally as good.

We're not long back from a break in Wales; a few days by the seaside for O/H and a few days at the wheel for me, both very enjoyable. Thanks to this and other threads here, this was our route:

https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1691946

We were in this, not the fastest thing on four wheels but a helluva lot of fun. If you're wondering why we did Llanberis Pass twice, we got stuck behind a couple of slow cars the first time biggrin

In total 703 miles door-to-door, our first visit to north Wales but we'll be back...
