I see that the up in Scotland the North Coast 500 has been busy to the point of being no fun for serious drivers due to 'staycations'.

Does anyone have a view/info on whether the same is true in the GrossglocknerAlps/Dolomites this year? Normally end of September it has all quietened down traffic wise. Was wondering if this year will be different?

How is Grossglockner usually? Keen to drive though it very fast (we'll be in Strad/Scud/McLaren/GT3) Is it pretty empty of busy? Is it worth being first through the gate at 6am?

Thanks.

We’re already booked. Going in the f-type.

The grossglockner can get busy, but an early start and that time of year should be good.

Might see you all there!

Not that it helps.. biggrin: Drove up that beautiful road in the summer of 1979 in a new Ford Capri 3.0s.
Interesting ascending from warm sunshine to snow and ice at the summit smile
Worth the views at the top..!!
A glass of Schnapps is a must have too drink

Hah!

Last time I was on the Grossglockner (October 2019, just before the fun stopped!), I drove up and down the Edelweißspitze in my rental BMW then saw this in a car park further along:

Some people have all the luck.

The only time I was going up Grössglockner was doing a vehicle test. We needed hot weather, but the place was crowded with cyclists. They may be your main issue. I imagine earlier and cooler in the day may be even more crowded.

When I was there last, the place was infested with Merc SUVs (they were in camo and under test with heavy trailers on the back).

Mine certainly had a heavy trailer, wasn’t a Merc though!
