I got to the M6 today at maybe 2:30 - 3pm J18 heading south.

Pretty much straight away hit traffic, which after 20 minutes turned out to be because there was a half mile (at least) queue of almost stationary cars in the inside lane queueing for Sandbach services. What on earth could have happened in a service station once voted the worst in europe to make so many people want to be there?

Probably electric vehicles needing a charger, we'll see a lot more of this in the future.

There's been yet another quite big crash that morning on the southbound - I don't know how long ot took to clear but perhaps the queue was traffic that'd been held up and people needed the facilities etc?

I’m sure some lemmings join queues for fun. They must think they’re missing out on something if they don’t.

I’ve never understood people who queue for restaurants, cafes or bars. I’d simply go somewhere else.

Yes, I've experienced it so often after joining the M6 Southbound at J20 that lately I don't bother with the M6!

A few years ago it was stationary Northbound for miles, so I took the M54 for a couple of junctions then some A roads that were much more fun and I've been using them ever since.

The M6 really isn't fit for purpose - but then most Motorways aren't now. frown

Were those A roads the A41 ? It used to be very quick, but now isn't.

I had a contract in Wolverhampton a couple of years back and Friday afternoon, would pick between the M6 the A41 or some mad route via Hodnet, where there was 6 miles of challenging bends.

I'm now working next to Spagetti Junction, and There is no sensible route North.

Home is L37 North Miseryside.

I couldn't possibly comment, because if it was it would only get busier!

Just be grateful you have so many Motorways in the North. I live in Berkshire and we have just one in the whole County the miserable M4 that is being turned into a revenue generation route, aka Stupid Motorway - it certainly isn't Smart! banghead
