Evening all , going to drive from Surrey to knockhill late Thursday evening or v.early Friday morning .
I have 2 options ;
Motorways - quickest route with petrol covered (company car) OR
A fun way in 2 seater . I’ll be on my own will do it in pretty well one go barring fuel and breaks .
Question is - if there a route that has parts that are on decent A roads etc . Don’t mind bits on motorways but a good chunk on half decent roads as I’ll be paying for petrol !! So a bit of fun desired.
Any ideas appreciated

Come off A74M at Moffat and take the Devil's beef tub road A701 up to Penicuik. Onto Edinburgh city bypass and over Forth Bridge

Instead of the A74M take the B7076 that runs parallel to it and if you've time, pick it up at Jn. 44 just north of Carlisle. You won't lose much time compared with the motorway and it's far more enjoyable.

if travelling in the dark just take the direct route. At dawn and dusk and dark watch out for Deer. If one steps into the road there's usually one or two or 5 behind ready to hijack you
