We're off for Staycation #2 of the year and heading somewhere we have never been - East Anglia - thought why not give it a chance

stopping in Thelnetham to give is a good location for exploring in any direction

Any fun roads or routes worth checking out ?

It is speed camera central, not that you can't have fun just keep an eye out

I was brought up 4 miles away from Thelnetham.

The A1066 from Thetford to Diss is a nice, fast road with some quick, sweeping bends but has reasonably heavily traffic and us firmly policed. Getting up into the Thetford forest can be good fun - take the road from Thetford to Mumford and then up towards Kings Lynn through Northwood and try the Harling Speed Straight between Rushford and East Harling.

The Bury At Edmunds to Sudbury road is also a nice one but, again, busy. You can take in the lovely villages of Long Melford and Lavenham en route but be aware that both Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds are dull, unattractive little towns with not much to commend them

can get on some bits of it,most of it is bloked off now, dont be racing about like a c0ck as theres security , have a gentle drive round at the speed limit and look at the control tower etc if you want , theres some planes you can see at their little museum too but its only open now n then , can see em though the fence though

Head the other way and go to Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Beautiful little town and the route over there from Thelnetham will take you through/past literally dozens of old WW2 airfields. From Southwold you can drop down to Woodbridge and Bentwaters then over the Orwell Bridge for a pub supper at the Butt and Oyster at Pin Mill. If the weather's good, I defy anyone to find a better spot for a bite of supper and an evening walk by the river
