Interesting route - West Mids Caernafon?

In a week or so I'll have to make this journey and was thinking of trying a different route than standard.

Current idea is:

M54, A5, down to Bala on the A494, across to Ffestiniog A4212
Then A498, A4085 to Caernafon

Turn off A5 for Knockin and follow road towards Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Follow b4396 to Bala, then on to Ffestiniog. Far better route. Just keep the noise down past my house
