Hi
I'm fine with making then driving routes using googlemaps on my phone and sharing with others, however some friends have asked if I can convert them to satnav files.

Are there any good free conversion downloads?

Export the Google Map to KML and import the KML file into TYRE or ITNConverter on a Windows PC. From there you can export into various satnav-friendly formats such as ITN and GPX.

Didn't Tyre stop working because Google wouldn't do a deal with them or something? I use the MyRoute app for creating and transferring either itn. or gpx. routes to TomTom or Garmin.

TYRE is supposed to work if you have a (free) Google Maps API code, but on my PC at least it only shows straight lines between waypoints rather than following the actual curvature of roads. Nonetheless even if the mapping is broken it still works as a file converter from KML to other formats.

Personally always preferred ITNConverter anyway, which doesn’t work with Google Maps but has a choice of open-source maps to choose from,
