Driving roads - North West - F Type 575 for one month...
Discussion
Hi,
I had hoped to get a sports car on the drive this year but due to a wedding I have decided to delay it until next year and treat myself to something for my 30th.
In the meantime as my only car is electric (Polestar) I have decided to rent something fun for a month to keep me going for a bit... I have a friend that works at a hire company and as such I have been able to rent a brand new 2021 F Type 575 Coupe for £1,500 inc VAT for the month of June which considering its a brand new £100k seems a decent deal...
My mileage limit is 2,000 miles for the month so I wanted to make the most out of it. Some suggestions on some routes to take with a pub lunch etc. would be good
I am currently based near Chester.
Thanks,
Greg

You might have a bit of a journey to get anywhere really good, Cheshire/ Merseyside/ Halton/ Manchester is all a bit civilised and busy. Maybe head into Wales if you can avoid the major routes. Or head around the north coast - a nice trip but not a particularly great drive. Conwy or Llandudno are nice for different reasons.
Head further east and most of the routes over the pennines are decent. Personally I'm a fan of the snake pass as it used to be my commute. The A roads which radiate south and east from Chester have some decent sections but I'm not aware of any I'd consider a fun drive overall.
Will be following this with interest.

Definitely do a wales trip - Ruthin/Mold/Betws-y-Coed/Capel Curig/Blenau Ffestinog up north.
Shame you haven't got more miles to go and do the NC500.
Midweek evenings there are some great roads around the Skipton area which are great fun, traffic makes it a ballache though.

I’d head to the Yorkshire Dales. Richmond to Muker is great. There’s some decent drives in the Forest of Bowland too, Bentham to Clitheroe I believe I did a few years ago. I wouldn’t bother with the Peak District, yes the Snake used to be great as were some other passes but it’s full of average speed cameras now and traffic and cyclists are often a problem.
