BBC said:
The preferred route to replace a section of the A83 hit by landslides would run through the same glen as the existing road, it has been announced.

The section of road - the Rest and Be Thankful, near Arrochar - has become infamous for landslips, closures and long diversions.

Transport Scotland has been consulting on 11 "route corridor options" to improve travel through the area.

A route through Glen Croe near the existing road has now been identified.
Hopefully it will prove more reliable...if they can't use the Old Military Road the current diversion is 59 miles long!

When they resurfaced the old military road as a "cure" , one of the options discussed was this sort of thing
Cheaper than a new road, and could be an attractive solution if done property

I've had to cancel my trip that way for two years running, I guess a solution by this time next year is a bit optimistic irked

Surely the most logical route is up the forestry road on the west side of the glen. I'm not aware of the same landslip issues there and it's no steeper a climb overall than the current A83.

It just needs an open sided tunnel built over the road. So any land slide just washes over and down the valley.
Doesnt need a full tunnel dug or a full reroute of the road.
The hill needs trees planting on it to help bind the soil too.
