Looking for an interesting non motorway and as little dual carriageway as possible.
Also any interesting/historic/motor orientated places to stop at.
Have 2 full days.

Not sure on your route but a detour to https://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/ would be easy to do if they are open. Not really car related but well worth a visit https://www.nmrn.org.uk/national-museum-royal-navy... And here if they are open when you are there https://www.hovercraft-museum.org/

Are you looking for some nice long drives, scenery, people watching or a technical hoon? And what car would you do it in?

If it were me, I'd maybe do a few things:

(1) Eastwards: Down through t'North Yorkshire Moors, cross over t'Humber at Hessle, through the Lincolnshire Wolds, and then I'm not sure!

(2) Westwards: Through t'Yorkshire Dales, head into Bradford to see how fortunate your life is biggrin down to the Peak District and then I'm not sure!

(3) Because I'm rather speshal needs, I don't mind getting up early, like spending hours driving and seeing places, I'd do a coastal route down the East side to Portsmouth - Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington, Hull, Grimsby, Skeggy, Kings Lynn, around the coast to Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Southwold, Aldeburgh etc

How long have you got, and is it a phobia of motorways/dual-carriageways, or a hankering for some 'driving' roads?

If you've got 13-14 hours, you could come across the Yorkshire Dales, into the Peak District, across into Wales down as far as the Brecon Beacons, then across to the Cotswolds and down through the North Downs.

I've done most of these roads, but never in one go (used to work up in Barnard Castle, and came home to Liverpool cross-country).

If you don't care about the scenery or some nice driving roads, then simply plot the shortest route using only B-roads (I did something similar when I had to get a broken car from Liverpool to Colchester at 40mph/2000rpm max), it might still take you 8 hours though.

Hi mmm

not a phobia but prefer scenic roads when in the TVR. Will do motorway/Dual carriageway if need be.

This time we are going to the Circuit des Remparts with Travel Destinations but have now joined their 5 day convoy so will need to get to Portsmouth in one day - my granddaughters 8th birthday is on the 14th and we sail on the evening of the 15th.

I might do your route next time we are going to Goodwood
