I want to go from London to Baku in a Caterham. I would like PH to plan my route, sight seeing and stop overs.

I only have a few requirements:
Spa / Nurburgring
Geneve / Andermatt - I have friends there
Transfăgărășan DN7C
Sofia - I have friends there

Nice hotels (not expensive)
Not too many miles in a day where it becomes a stress to make the hotel.
Maybe the occasional trackday / Motogp / SBK on the way
Occasional day of motorway to link sections is fine

Summer next year depending on Work, Pandemic, Caterham.

Do you have a rough plan? What car will you be in?
I was thinking Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, France.
But I am also tempted by the Adriatic coast.

Do you like massive machines? Like Ekranoplans?

150 miles north of Baku: "Lun" will be the star of Derbent's planned Patriot Park, a military museum and theme park that will display different sorts of Soviet and Russian military equipment. Construction of the park is expected to start later in 2020. For the time being, Lun will sit alone on the beach.

In the Crimea: Fortress Kerch is supposed to be good cos it is massive, and the Submarine pens at Sevastopol,

Kiev, and Chernobyl if that's your thing.

Varna (Bulgaria) for a night out that may last for days...

Romania, and Dracula's Castle (Bran).

Italy and do Ferrari/Lambo factory tours etc. then ferry to Adriatic coast on Croatia is nice and scenic,

Wonderfull stuff Cake Eater, truly excellent. I will be following this.

Take a look at 'Bald & Bankrupt' on Youtube, he travels extensively in the former USSR.

Only advice is that you can't enter Azerbaijan if you've previously been in Armenia.

RedAndy - good suggestions for stops. Ukraine and Northern route around the Black Sea is already ruled out and as RichTT mentioned so is Armenia.

Sofia to Varna is high on the list already.

Hopefully some local PH knowledge for choosing the routes between so I don't spend all the time on the motorway in a Caterham or stuck behind tractors on the coast of the Black Sea.

Transfăgărășan DN7c to Bran Castle looks like a very good choice. Google currently won't show all the DN7c as the pass over the Carpathian Mountains is closed

Route planning
https://www.bestbikingroads.com/

I have looked at making a detailed route every day but come to the conclusion that I should have several 'bases' to spend a few days and explore.
So far, the base camps following my planned route are:

Spa & Nurburgring - obvious reasons

Black Forest staying at Baden Baden and Friburg im Breisgau

Switzerland Andermatt - https://www.thechediandermatt.com/media/archive1/a...

Austria Innsbruck

Then a few days of 'bouncing from city to city
Vienna > Bratislava > Budapest > Brasov

Romania Brasov - Bran Castle (Dracula), Transfăgărășean highway (DN7C) and other routes over the Carpathian Mountains

2 day city bounce
Bucharest > Sofia (for a few days)

Bulgaria Varna (Black Sea resort for a few days)

Then follow Black Sea cost to Georgia before crossing into Azerbaijan and finishing in Baku.

Any more recommendations on places to stay, things to see along the route?
Thanks smile
