Northern Germany recommendations
Discussion
I'm looking to do a short road trip next month to Germany. I've seen lots of South Germany now (Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Black Forest etc) so would like to try something different.
The A31 looks like it'd be a fairly empty Autobahn stretch on the way up there. Are there any decent driving roads or sights around Bremen/Hamburg/Hanover?

Agreed on the A31. I prefer to drive on motorways in Germany at night, though. During the day there are too many MLMs around.
Motorway-wise, the area you mention is not hugely exciting. Forget Hannover anyway.
In Hamburg, you could try the old Elbtunnel (with lift) and the Hochstraße in the harbour. If you want to get an idea about driving in Hamburg, watch the film "Absolute Giganten".
Try the coast, the scenery is nice. Kiel for example. Rent a beach hut for a day and relax.
