This might bring back some memories for anyone here that used to travel up the A9 in the 70's. I used to live near Dunkeld at the time and recognised a few faces.

That's a blast from the past. I used to travel from the north coast to the scottish borders to visit relatives every summer in the 70's / 80's and it was a 10 hour journey and hellish. It seemed that on every trip you witnessed the after effects of some bad accident, the garage at Calvine was always packed with terribly mangled cars. I know the new A9 has it's critics but it really was a meat grinder in its old form

It was indeed. If you got stuck behind a lorry or a caravan, you were really stuffed. Interesting that one of the cops says that when the new A9 opened they had different kinds of accidents. I guess he meant more fatals. It would be interesting to see the statistics. There were better overtaking opertunities but the speed was higher.
