Failed road works caused damage to car
Discussion
So, driving on a main road there were signs of works due to start on 8th June I believe. Some cones scattered about but that was it - the road was clear.
A few moments later, a loud bang and I knew I’d hit a bad pothole. Pulled up to check and to no surprise I had a flat tyre and possible alloy damage. I walked back down the road where it occurred and there had been road works where they’d dug up to get to some sort of drain or something running underneath the road. It seemed they had filled it back in but it hadn’t set so the weight of cars driving over it caused massive dips. I obviously caught one of these dips at just the right angle and f@*cked my car up due to the lip between the new road/hole and the old road.
I imagine the rules are somewhat different compared to potholes considering the work men must have been at fault for not allowing the road to set before allowing cars to drive on it (rather than a mysterious pot hole appearing out of no where and no one knowing about it).
Any ideas on how to go about this? I can’t get the car in for repair until Thurs (2 days away) which means £80 in taxi fees to get to work and back AND taking a night off unpaid to sort it and whatever the cost of the repair is (if it is definitely alloy damage). I took lots of photos at the time but is there anything else I would need to do for a successful claim?!
