Halfway point help

Hi all, taking my niece to visit her dad on Monday and we are going to meet halfway. I am driving from Birchington in Kent and him from Chesterfield. Has anyone got any advice on what would be a suitable halfway point?

At the moment we have arranged Luton but just realised I would be spending a lot of time on the M25. Idea I have now is to go up the M11 and meet at Cambridge services which also seems about halfway. Is there still a lot of roadworks around here?

Any suggestions welcomed, would be setting off around 10am. Thanks
