Hi All.This is my first post on Piston heads.

I had the misfortune ,just over a year ago to have to drive from Aston Clinton to Hazelmere Bucks .This was twice a day Leaving home at 6am in the morning in the dark and late afternoon for the second run. Both in the dark. There is a TON of traffic at these times in this area!.

Country lanes ,country main roads in the dark.Horrifying combinations. They are VERY narrow ,white lines to the left often non existent, and approaching vehicles headlights create a black void around the dazzle factor they create. So you get the hot head that is right behind you now, you're trying to drive at a brisk but safe speed, but you feel the venom they feel for you.Nervracking, you can't get out their way,no where to go...……………………………….Up on, in this case the A413 ,same sort of deal.Again, the road on this route is very narrow .Endless stream of cars approaching ,headlights ,narrow ,speed, cars behind you,all wanting to go at speeds that take the safety factor to the limits. And of course the long ,sweeping, narrow left and righthand bends, and at that time in the morning it's buses ,skip lorries and the tipper trucks, all coming for you on the other side of the long bends. They all weigh in at many tons.and take up the whole side of an already narrow road,AND going fast headlights on of course. And on it goes. The A 404 to Hazlemere is all of this and more. While knuckle all the way .My mouth used to go dry......Day time ,no real problem but when that country dark comes down in the very early rush hours hmmmm,I did this for 5 weeks and got through it with 100% concentration and focus.. ...There must be hundreds of places like this all over the UK. Iwouldn 't have felt like this if only the speeds could be lowered just al little bit.Make all the difference,Just couldn't help thinking ,one mistake here ,and that's it!!

Welcome. I had a sausage panini for breakfast this morning. It was quite pleasant.

If i were you, I would take a little time to consider before rushing onto the internet to complain. A year is just too soon to reflect in a calm manner.

I have driven both roads alot over the years, they are generally a bit st and to be avoided during peak hours if possible but other than that, they are just another road.
