On the way home today I took the long route which ended up in Oaksey.

From here things got very interesting on a route I'd never taken. Following the road from here towards Tetbury via Chelworth and then Culkerton revealed one of the best sweeping roads I've driven for a long time. Dropping back to the m4 via Minety and then the road to Royal Wotton Basset was just so much fun. No need to break the speed limits, the fun is maintaining the posted limits.

What a cool little run that could easy be looped in to some other great roads in the area.

Don't spoil it by telling everyone....
Having spent years working in Tetbury an playing golf at Oaksey, there are plenty more fun stretches around the villages between tetbury, cirencester, swindon

I'd started in Ciren and ended in Swindon, for some reason i just had never done the stretch from Oaksey to Tetbury before.

What a lovely stretch

I'd have to agree - some years ago I found some lovely roads around Tetbury.

When I lived in Stroud I also used to enjoy the A46 towards Bath.

The B4040 from Cricklade to Yate is a very good road too, spoilt only by silly speed limits.

As an Oaksey resident who regularly makes the run via Ashton Keynes to Swindon (don’t ask me what the road numbers are), I agree there are some nice stretches around.

Two words of warning however, 1. Wildlife! I’ve hit 2 deer in the last 3 years, and 2. Horses - often being ridden in pairs so be careful on blind bends.
