Pretty much as per the thread title, the road surface used to be terrible to the point of almost avoiding it, but is now a nice smooth section of tarmac to enjoy if anyone is on a run in the north Dorset area. Might have to find excuses to go that way in future smile

That's useful to know - SWMBO's sister lives about 15 miles from there, and I keep intending to have a look when I'm in the area...

I was using it daily a few weeks ago for my commute to Poole as the C13 road close by it was shut for months, the powers that be then decided to shut Zigzag hill for a couple of weeks to resurface, as sod's law stands true to form 2 days before I finish the job in Poole both roads get re-opened rolleyes

Have the council resurfaced the hill itself or just the delaminating top layer on the approach road from Winn Green?

They resurfaced part of the approach road last year where it had delaminated. Not convinced it’ll last that long, in places you can see holes starting to form again.

For the actual hill/hairpins this time they’ve done a proper resurface from the approach road to the edge of Cann Common, finished and reopened last week.

I came across this road years ago on a small trip down that way. As soon as I got home, without hesitation had to jump on google maps and scan the areas for the mad zig zag shape. I keep meaning to go back but I live a good hour or two away, and since it's very short, it doesn't seem like a good enough reason.

The road from there over to Sixpenny Handley isn't too bad...

Nor the rest of the B3081 between Shaftesbury and Wimborne
